Small Christian Communities

The Small Christian Community emphasizes encouragement, personal growth, and evangelization – it shares its faith with others.

"What in the world are small Christian Communities?" This is not a terminology with which most Catholics are familiar.  We understand  “community” in context of the larger Church or our neighborhood.  But a “small Christian community?”  Simply stated, it is what it implies.  Small groups of six to twelve persons gather, preferably in the home, read the Scriptures for the upcoming Sunday, reflect upon them and then share their faith response.  It is recommended that the community gather on a weekly basis, however, the group members can and may determine what dynamic works best for them.

2010 Faith Formation News

It is important to note that this faith sharing is about the personal experiences of God in one’s life; that it is living in the vulnerability of life, sharing its joys, sorrows, hopes and fears and God’s faithfulness in that journey; and it requires understanding that each person’s experience of God is his/her own and not a theological discussion.
